Riza Wisnom
Riza Wisnom has been working with cats and dogs for almost thirty years. Her work has appeared in Toilettage Magazine, Groomer to Groomer and various local magazines and papers. Prompted by her high school typing teacher to apply for the job, Riza began her career as a kennel attendant and grooming assistant in her hometown of Beaverton, Oregon USA. She remained in the animal field throughout college where she was working towards her degree in pre-veterinary studies with the hopes of progressing on to veterinary medicine. In 1991, Riza met her husband, Tony Wisnom, at a wedding. They eventually moved to Tony’s home state of Maryland where she auditioned for a grooming position and was hired. Smitten with this new phase of her animal career, she laid her college plans to rest and never looked back. She now owns Pawsitively Purrfect Inc., a pet salon in Maryland, USA which celebrated its 19th year in business the summer of 2015. Riza discovered Asian grooming styles when she spotted an adorable shihtzu groomed in a Korean clip with curled ears in a pet accessory catalog. Her interest piqued by the curious new look, she began her quest to master the style. She gives seminars and workshops on Asian grooming and hopes to expose both client and groomer to this exciting new trend. Riza and Tony share their home with their two boys Cody and Lane, a hairless cat named Rumplestilt-skin and a white toy poodle named Bo Peep
